Yamhill County Affordable Housing Corporation (YCAHC)

The Yamhill County Affordable Housing Corporation (YCAHC) was formed in 2001 for the following purpose:

To promote homeownership for low and moderate income citizens by developing, purchasing, selling, conserving and rehabilitating housing located in Yamhill County and the city limits of Willamina. This includes activities such as housing/homeownership counseling, energy conservation, safe housing programs, and low-income housing repair.

YCAHC contracts with the Housing Authority of Yamhill County (HAYC) to operate a revolving loan fund of over $3 million to provide Housing Rehabilitation loans to low/moderate income homeowners.  Loans of up to $25,000 are provided at either zero percent (0%) or two percent (2%) interest rates to repair existing homes. Priority is given to projects that address health and safety issues. Typical work includes such things as repair, replacement or installation of roofs, windows, siding, electrical wiring, heating systems and foundations.

YCAHC also provides Affordable Housing opportunities by obtaining single family homes through a variety of ways, rehabilitating them, and then selling them to qualified low income families at an affordable price.

In its early years YCAHC focused exclusively on Housing Rehabilitation. To meet the demand of housing information requests, however, YCAHC expanded its scope to include promotion of homeownership education, preparation and counseling. A Regional Housing Center was developed to provide this free information service. The Center staff helps find answers to all housing questions, provides counseling financial repair and works to help current homeowners facing foreclosure. As needed, they will refer customers to the appropriate local business or agency. The Resource Center is located inside the HAYC office.
